The Farmer’s Dog was created in 2014 by two dog lovers to radically improve the $90 billion global pet food industry — starting with a subscription service that sends freshly-made food directly to customers’ doors!

We gently steam our ingredients at low temperatures to remove potentially harmful bacteria without negatively altering the nutritional properties of the food. 

Kibble is made using multiple rounds of high heat processing, proven to significantly reduce nutritional value.

Our fresh-food plan is portioned for each dog’s needs, making weight management easy. Maintaining a healthy weight is a proven longevity booster—lean dogs can live 2.5 years longer! And research has found that dogs eating a highly processed (and imprecisely portioned) dry diet are more likely to be overweight.

Fresh, high-quality protein does more than safeguard your dog’s heart health. Research has shown that real food with real meat is more digestible than rendered scraps and provides nutrients that can affect mood-related hormones like serotonin. That means a happier dog.

We hear it all the time from customers—when they start feeding fresh their dog’s physical health improves, but along the way they also notice a big change in their behavior. And nothing beats a smiling dog. 

The health and safety of the dogs we feed are our top priorities. We pay a lot of attention to the temperature and nutritional integrity of our ingredients throughout the entire cooking cycle, eliminating possibility for harmful bacterial growth. Each batch of food is thoroughly tested by a third-party before being released, and each pack has a batch code allowing us to track specific batches of food and monitor for issues. In light of our strict standards, we’re proud to say we’ve never issued a recall.

We work with a team of board-certified veterinary nutritionists

and canine nutrition experts to formulate our recipes!

Our questionnaire calculates daily portions for each dog based on their unique: 

• Age
• Weight
• Breed 
• Activity level 
• Body condition and more!

Through their account, customer can:

• Delay/rush orders
• Edit the amount of packs they currently have on hand
• Edit how they’re feeding
• Update information on a growing puppy, and more! 

Chicken, Beef, Turkey or Pork 

Since the food doesn't contain any preservatives, it will arrive frozen and takes 12 hours to defrost in the fridge. You'll store the packs in the freezer and put one or two packs in the fridge to defrost as you go. Packs stay fresh for 4 days in the fridge and 6 months in the freezer. 

Boxes of food contain printed instructions on how to open, portion, and serve the food, unique to each dog. These instructions can also be found in the customer account.
